Born in 1970 in Russia, Alexandr Uglov was brought up in Ukraine where he moved with his family when he was a child. In 1997, he graduated as one of the top students in his class from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at Kryvyi Rih National University in Ukraine. His work spans a wide range of styles including realist, impressionist, expressionist and abstract.
Uglov creates collections inspired by themes such as dance, fantasy, fairy tales, drama and music, and he makes use of different materials and techniques for each painting, always looking to create something unique. His style of painting has such a flow to it that it makes the viewer feel as though they are flowing through the paintings themselves. His most prominent works are the ones in which he successfully uses landscape elements to create portraits.
Even though Uglov generally uses oil paints as his medium, he has also created pieces using watercolors and pastels. Since 1995, his work has been displayed in multiple solo and group exhibitions not only in Ukraine but also in other countries. Alexandr Uglov, whose work can be found in official and private collections in 23 countries worldwide, continues to create art from the city he has been residing in for many years now, Enerhodar.
